Discover the visual language of gesture drawing, which is trusting your subconscious to guide you in capturing the essence and abbreviate like shorthand what you see and feel with each model pose of 1 min. 2 min. and 5 min.

Armature technique with plotting the joint points and building a frame to fill out the form

free form interpretation..discover your own style

mass and volume used with thick black charcoal is best

quick sketch mapping shapes and lines using the Reilly method/sharpie markers

continuous line drawing/similar to contour drawing which are fluid lines connecting the body shapes

abbreviate the arms and legs to indicate the basic shape eg. basic stick people

discover the lines of axis, the rhythmic line of action and the the line of balance

2 Newsprint pads 18 inches by 24 inches
2 artist clamps
Brown parcel paper roll will be used for tonal background studies
sanguine conte
white conte
black conte
thick black charcoal
6b and 8b pencils sharpened to a point
exacto knife
kneading eraser (encouraged to be used sparingly)
fine line sharpie markers are encouraged for mapping quick sketches

Have fun learning the visual language of life drawing from direct observation with a life model.
 2 min. sweeping fluid lines to motion gestures and mapping 5 min. quick sketches. 10 and 20 min. tonal studies.
Quick demos available by instructor.
